Gift Giving Ideas for the Dog Lover on Your Christmas List

If you have dog lovers in your family, it’s time to think of some unique gifts you can give them this Christmas. When you select a gift for a dog lover, you have to keep certain things in mind. For instance, if you are going to get a gift based on the dog’s breed, make sure that you know what breed of dog it is before you go off and buy a Poodle door stopper for the owner of a Bichon Frise.

Every dog parent will agree that a gift based on their dog’s breed is always among those most cherished and appreciated. To get your ideas flowing, here are some gifts you can get for the dog parent.

Give Dog Lovers piece of mind about their Pet’s Health when you give the gift of Pet Health Insurance. It’s easy to go online and compare Pet Insurance Quotes to find the best offer. It would be a great gift for any dog owner.

Gifts fashioned after dog breeds are popular. These include personalized jewelry, tote bags, notebooks, stationary, and license plate frames. For the dog lover and avid golfer, golf club covers in a dog breed theme would be a great touch for any golfer’s bag. You’d be surprised how many items are available in different dog breeds.

If giving an item that simply has a “likeness” to a pet is not personal enough for you, you can take a photo of the pet, and then have a gift made from it. If you can take some pictures of their dog in advance, have a good photo put on a mug or made into a painting. Or get a dog breed picture frame and insert your favorite picture of the dog.

Consider a gift for both the dog lover and their dog. The type of dog an owner has often is a reflection of their personality; thus it shouldn’t be too difficult selecting a Christmas gift that is well suited for Rover and Rover’s parents.

If the dog lover on your gift giving list enjoys dressing up their dog, giving doggie clothes is an idea. Making the baby look silly might be a no-no, but it is good clean fun when it comes to dressing up a dog.

There are really only a couple of rules you’ll need to keep in mind when shopping for dog clothes: One is that if the dog in question is an avid chewer, you should avoid buying him anything tempting. Also, remember that a dog will never “diet down” into an outfit that is too small, or — unless you’re shopping for a puppy or a pregnant female — “grow into” an item that is too big.

Shopping online is a great way to find all kinds of gifts, whether breed specific gift items, doggie clothing, or whatever you are looking for. eBay is a great place to find gifts to purchase and to do research for gift ideas. Or you can do a Google search on “dog gifts” or “dog breed gifts” to turn up a wide assortment of items on sale.

With so many options there is no need to worry and fret over what to give the dog owner on your gift-giving list. Remember that when choosing a gift for your friend or family member, be sure to get something for their dog, too. Doggie treats are always favorite gifts for Christmas or any time of the year.
