Are There Too Many Puppies?

Every time I have to take one of my pets to the vet I sit there in agony watching people come on with their pregnant dog, or their new puppies, or with their Bulldogs who need to be artificially inseminated. It’s sickening.

If you are a breeder who breeds with the intent of improving the breed, that is commendable. But if you or anyone you know is breeding dogs just for profit, please consider getting your female spayed and getting out of the business.

There are too many dogs, and millions of them are being euthenized each year in the United States alone, not to mention other countries. (3-4 million dogs and cats in the US are euthenized each year) There are better ways to make an extra income besides breeding dogs.

I hate to visit the local shelter because they are overcrowded, understaffed, and the dogs look so sad in those cages. But several times a year I get a call to pick up a pug for the local pug rescue that I volunteer with. So I head over to the shelter. It breaks my heart. I wish I could take every dog home with me.

Thankfully, there are organizations who are quietly working in the background to save one puppy at a time. They work hard, getting little thanks and probably no media attention. But the puppies they save are many.

I hope you will watch this video. It pulls at your heart. After it’s over, please visit the Web site and give a few dollars to help save more puppies.

There are so many unwanted dogs and puppies. We need to help by making sure our dogs are spayed and neutered. With so many clinics offering reduced fees, there is no reason not to get your dog fixed.
