Border Collie Video

I love Border Collies. What is so great about this dog breed? They are super intelligent, super companions, and extremely devoted. At least, our Border Collie, Scout, is.

They are not a good breed for most people, however. They require a lot of running room, a lot of attention, and a lot of intereaction with their owners. Scout would go crazy sitting in a tiny backyard all day.

In fact, he was stuck in a tiny backyard after his family had to give up their two-acre property and move into town. He spent all day running back and forth in this tiny backyard. And as he ran, he would bark. He would bark all day, which infuriated his neighbors.

So his family had to give him away, and they gave him to us.

If you have a lot of room for a dog to run and want a dog that needs you and needs to be with you, a Border Collie is an excellent choice.

Here’s a video that demonstrates how smart they are. By the way, as you watch it you might think “Wow, that dog is hyper!” But he is not any more hyper than any other Border Collie. They have a tremendous amount of energy so they can herd sheep all day, every day, and not wear out.

For instance, right now Scout is out running around the backyard with my youngest sister. He’s been running around for the last hour, and still has plenty of energy left over. On the other hand, our two chihuahuas and the pug mix are sleeping soundly next to me. They have absolutely no desire to run around the backyard. Different breeds, vastly different energy levels.
