Choosing a Dog - How about a Golden Retriever?

The image of a Golden Retriever that is active and friendly is well-known to everyone who has seen a TV commercial or magazine ad. There are good reasons that this breed features significantly in so many of them: it’s all true!

Golden Retrievers are among the most easily trained dog breeds because they are intelligent, sociable and active. Since they enjoy anything that requires activity they love any kind of outdoor recreation that gets them moving.

Did you know that Golden Retrievers are derivatives of Russian circus dogs? It’s not really surprising to hear this. They are so quick to pick up any trick, whether it’s fetching, jumping, or sitting. They are one of the most intelligent dog breeds.

They are also incredibly social and hate to be left alone. In fact, leaving your Golden alone could cause health problems. So if you do have to be gone a lot it’s best to get a second dog to keep him company.

Here’s a little video that someone took of their Golden Retriever. Hope you enjoy it. You will want to make sure the volume is turned up on your speakers because Nick is a little difficult to hear. But it’s worth it to hear what he has to say about his Golden Retrievers.
