Is There Such a Thing as a Naturally Dangerous Dog?

There are people who say “yes” and people who disagree with this title. It’s been my experience that the dogs getting the bad raps today (Pit Bull, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Rottweiler, and so on) are not necessarily dangerous, but become that way with neglect, abuse, and ill-treatment.

We have a Staffordshire Bull Terrier that we adopted from a local shelter. Our vet says she is a beautiful Staffy and that we are lucky to have her. There aren’t very many around that have the classic look, he said.

She is a pleasure to own. Loving, gentle, great companion, and more, Bonnie has never growled. As I wrote in my article on Staffies (read it here at Staffordshire Bull Terrier), they make excellent pets for families with children because they are tough and can handle any kind of tail-pulling and ear-tugging that a child might give them.

Also, since they do look kind of intimidating, I like having Bonnie around for security reasons. I think someone would think twice about breaking in if they saw Bonnie inside waiting for them.

Here’s a video someone put together about Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Hope you enjoy it. They are a great family dog.

The only time Bonnie is at all dangerous is when we walk into her accidentally. It’s like walking into a block wall! They are very sturdy little dogs.
